"There Are Two Powers In The World ;One Is The Sword And The Other Is The Pen, There Is A Third Power Stronger Than Both, That Of Women"- Toyin Saraki
Few hours ago ,Toyin Saraki,wife of the former Senate President of the Eight Assembly,Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki shared on her official insta handle ,what is the greatest power of all- the woman.
Toyin Saraki who is a great advocate for children and women said that there are two powers in the world ;one is the sword and the other is the pen,there is the power stronger than both, that of a woman.
In her words as shared ;
"In the words of #Malala: "There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a third power stronger than both, that of women."
Throughout my advocacy journey, I have raised my voice to call for urgent action to transform health outcomes for women, children and communities.
I believe together we can create a new world: one in which no woman or girl dies from preventable complications in pregnancy or childbirth, and where no woman has to give birth without the help of a midwife, nurse or doctor. A world where no one is subjected to violence because of their gender, where no girl is forced to marry, where no girl or woman is subjected to female genital mutilation or other harmful practices.
In 2019, at the Nairobi Summit on #ICPD25 together with the Government of Kenya and @UNFPA, I was privileged, as a member of the International Steering Council, to present commitments from our partners across Nigeria, towards amplifying the 25th anniversary of 179 States' adoption of the ICPD Programme of Action and reaffirmed global and national commitments to continue the efforts to ensure rights and choices for all, especially women and girls' rights to decide over their own body and if, when, with whom, and how many children they want.
To protect the future of the worlds population is to protect the reproductive health care for women and youth in more than 150 countries – which are home to more than 80% cent of the world’s population. We champion the woman in order to champion the whole community - recognising that #reproductivehealth, as well as women's empowerment and #genderequality, are the pathway to sustainable development.
