Federal Government Reintroduces Covid-19 Restrictions, Place Limitation On Mass Gatherings,Restores Curfew And Shots Down Recreation Centers

                                                                                 


The Federal Government of Nigeria as announced  the reintroduction of national Covid-19 restrictions in the country,starting from 12am in the hours of Tuesday,May 11 (today).

This announcement was made by Dr. Mukhtar Mohammed who is a memeber of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on Covid-19 while briefing members yesterday, Monday 10, in Abuja.

Mohammed who also doubles as the Head of Technical Secretariat of the PSC said;

"The government has directed that bars and nightclubs should remain closed and the nationwide 12am to 4am curfew to curtail the further spread of Covid-19 will be in force until further notice.

For gathering including wedding,parties,meetings ;we are expanding the limit to 50 people preferably outdoors not in enclosed spaces and attendees must wear face masks and they must ensure proper sanitization of their hands and maintain physical distance.

For land travels and rail transport ,there are no limitations on inter and intra-state travels but service providers must abide by the status stipulations from the Federal Ministry of Transport and ensure that PPEs are used and applicable physical distancing is observed.

For the public sector ,we are maintaining the restriction and encouraging the work-at-home policy for staff below the level of grade level 12.Those at level 12 and above will be allowed to come to work.

For the hospitality and entertainment industry ,hotels will continue to remain opened but observing all non-pharmaceutical interventions.

He added that amusement parks,gyms and cinemas can open but have to be at half capacity

Eateries and restaurants can only open for outdoor services and we will make sure this is complied with.Bars and nightclubs to remain closed until further notice. Each of authority within the states can provide additional guidelines for minimising risk in the state as it relates to these facilities and industries.

Only international travels would be encouraged ,and all existing protocols must be strictly adhered to."
